Captivated by the color and beauty of beads, Melissa Culyer has been honing her bead embroidery techniques for more than 25 years. Self-taught, she finds inspiration in natural landscapes, memory and color, and carefully incorporates found objects into her designs. Lead glass crystal, natural stone, semi-precious gems and thousands of tiny glass seed beads round out her intricate compositions. She enjoys the meditative nature of her art form as she hand-stitches every bead to create one-of-a-kind pieces that vary in pattern, structure, and color.
